Rich Paul, a libertarian activist in Keene, New Hampshire is currently standing trial over the alleged selling of illegal drugs which included heroin and LSD. As part of his involvement in the loosely-organized Free State Project in New Hampshire, Rich Paul has been heavily active in promoting an end to oppressive drug laws. One shining example is Paul’s past organization of an April 20th “Smoke-In” rally of civil disobedience. A plea bargain with no jail time was offered to Mr. Paul, but he refused on the grounds he’d have to accept a felony charge on his permanent record. That demarcation, Paul argues, would prevent him to exercise his Second Amendment right to bear arms. Ultimately, Rich Paul prefers to go to trial, even despite the spectre of a punishment of 81 years behind bars. Still, Rich Paul continues in his quest to defend himself and the laws by which his community is willingly or unwillingly forced to comply.
